PR4: Pope at a Sex Club Edition

This was the most fun challenge I've seen to date. Those girls were *fabulous*! All that sparkle, all that shine. Wow.

Jillian's outfit was really cool. It really had "sporty/sexy" going on. Loved the fabric, but I couldn't quite get what was going on with the boob-strap without the white stripe. It didn't add interest, it added distraction.

Christians outfit: Fierce! One thing I would have done was put a cutout in the cleavage. I think that would have brought it home. Loved the chaps.

Chris didn't really have to try for this one. He just needed to make his drag outfit fit his diva.

Remi's outfit sucked. I actually *liked* the colour. The hot pink thing could totally work. His execution blew goats.

Poor, poor Sweet P. She just didn't get it, but I didn't think hers was the worst of the bunch. That would go to:

Ricky. He's really awful. *Really* awful.

What didja think?

Discuss!!

I'm still recovering from mammary overload, but here's what stood out for me:

Remi's pink thing made the woman look even older. Somehow that color brought out how badly bleached her hair really is which also brought attention to the condition of her skin. She looked old.

Christian's was just outstanding as was Chris's.

Loved the challenge.

I know you don't know me. I read your post on a friends' friend page. I had to comment, though, that Michael Kors comparing himself to the pope just made me giggle (insert joke of your choice about doing work on your knees here). They did make the right decision in booting Ricky. It's odd that the best a lingerie designer could do for a woman wrestler was a bathing suit. Btw -- why is it that Sweet P., with the tats of a total hippee biker chick always dresses like a schoolmarm?

[identity profile] mondragon.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Jillian's was good but more American Sporty than Boobtacular.

I think Christian should have won. I love Chris and love to see him win and I liked what he did but Christian just blew everyone else out.

Rami should have gone home. He totally didn't get it. Sweet P didn't get it either but I like her.

Even though Ricky made a 70's Jackie Susanne bathing suit I thought it rocked.

Chris and Christian were having fun with it. They worked best with their clients. This challenge of working with the Divas was a gift to Chris. Rami's looked like a half hearted attempt to do something Barbie and it just didn't look well crafted. Jillian's was functional and pedestrian - sexy but not really exciting. One of those stripes could have been red and it would work for American Gladiators. Sweet P just couldn't get into it - but she tried. Ricky just didn't get it.

You know, you’re on to something; Jillian’s piece looked more like something in line with American Gladiators than WWE.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I was feeling the "american gladiators" thing as well with that outfit.

[identity profile] grandiva1968.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 04:51 am (UTC)(link)

Rami was trying to drape a wrestling costume, for fuck’s sake!

The Israeli bites it next episode.  I’m almost willing to put money on it.  It’s a certainty that I’ll be up early on Saturday morning to see who actually showed on the PR runway Friday…

[identity profile] grandiva1968.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:02 am (UTC)(link)

Well, this has to be a first.  When was the last time the designers were asked to incorporate copious quantities of silicone into their designs?

I mean, I watched the ANTM clip show tonight, and I thought Toccara was blessed in her swimwear, but damn, these women must have to spend at least an extra month in training to wrestle with those flotation devices.

I think Ricky’s swimwear was on the same level as Alexandra Vidal’s piece in season one, and met with about as much success.

More than anything else, I’m just glad that the cry-baby is gone and won’t be poisoning my eyes for another couple of weeks.

Oh, and Sweet P is completely lost, but I still love her.

I'm just grateful Nuestra Senora de la Hatbox is GONE and I never have to look at one of his tacky-ass hats again.

[identity profile] grandiva1968.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
And Alexandra Vidal is making desserts, apparently.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I nearly smacked him when he was describing it to Tim.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
I can't wait until PR is in HD.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I don't, but there are a lot of folks who read and reply whom I don't know. Welcome aboard!

Yes, the orange fashion designer Michael Kors(tm) was in good form this evening =).

I don't really get what Sweet P is all about. How many all girl biker gangs do you know that *aren't* lesbian??

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I am gonna miss her.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
ZOMG those are *awful*.

[identity profile] grandiva1968.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:19 am (UTC)(link)

Unless Rami can break out of his pathological need to drape everything to the point of critical mass, I can’t see them taking him.  Although if Chris or Sweet P really stink up the next challenge catastrophically, and every designer has had a turn to really suck this season…

And while I agree with you about Christian for the most part, I think I’ll leave you with two words: Austin Scarlett.

[identity profile] grandiva1968.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right?

[identity profile] chrisglass.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm ready for the draping dude to go home.

[identity profile] vernnyc.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Whereas I simply cried out, "no, don't DRAPE the lycra!"

In some ways he's at a disadvantage because he got the American girl next door gal and isn't American, but he could have done better than that.

He plays it safe in a way by starting with the technique he knows well... I think he would jut kudos for coming up with something that it totally different.

[identity profile] vernnyc.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Christian's design rocked! Not only was it great for his model, but it could also be worn in a high glam hetero porn film ala Jenna Jameson. He took his models likes and made a fierce outfit.

Chris' outfit was also awesome, a well executed design. Though I feel like he could have done this one in his sleep.

Remi should be forced to make an outfit without the fold drape thing that he's quite excellent at doing but which we see entirely too often. He's technically quite skilled but does not often leave his comfort zone. Also don't think he got the concept of 'American girl next door'

Sweet P's outfit wasn't as bad as it started out. It needed more flair though. It was effectively monochrome (boring!) and the cape was the right Idea but needed to be more bold. If she had made it more dress like and had it tear away into the bikini that would have worked better for me.

When Ricky chose his fabric I was appalled! First he only seemed to have chosen one colour, second it was orange! The model had bronze skin, which effectively meant that an orange model was going to be wearing an orange outfit. Too monochrome! He would have done better to go with black and use the orange as a highlight. And a leotard and a variant of a halter top would have been more appropriate for a wrestler/dancer. The metal bits of the outfit would probably hurt in an actual wrestling situation.

Though I love Chris, my vote would have been for Christian.

Whenever the best design has a been a close race between his and someone elses, I tend to think Christian's design should win and usually it goes to the other guy.

I almost expect it is to create drama.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I do get the impression that the judges say to themselves "well, we can't give him the win *AGAIN*, can we?".

My prediction is that if Christian makes it to Bryant Park, they'll pull a "Michael Knight" on him, and give the win to someone else because he's "too young" (of course, Michael had other problems, but in the end, that was Kors' reason for dismissing him).

Christian really is the most talented of the bunch, by far.

[identity profile] quirkstreet.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet P and Rami are out next. Sweet P, well I like her as a person okay, but she's consistently getting overwhelmed by these challenges and losing her way. She's in over her head.

Rami, as others have said, has ONE thing he can do. And it's a very obvious thing, and he does it well, but he refuses to grow. Auf.

Jillian is unexciting and still can't finish *anything* on time, but she'll have to make a major fuckup to go out before those two.

Chris is up and down but not afraid to take risks.

Christian is a complete asshole who just happens to have some ideas and some talent. He does have a tendency to repeat ideas, but he executes them so well and takes dares. A very likely winner. Expect to see a lot of Tribble haircuts on the young gays this summer.

The judges like a lot of his stuff (the Hersey challenge was different.
I think Jillian will make it because she is like PR3's Laura - exceptional craftsmanship.
Christian will probably be there because he is will to be cutting edge.
The toss-up is Chris or Rami - I'd like Chris because he will do some interesting stuff (if Tim pushes/focuses him to edit back. Rami will turn out a sophisticated elegant line but yeah he plays it safe and doesn't want to break out of his box. He is dependable but doesn't have any real flash. He won't make fashion week most interesting.
