So Many Blisters
Dec. 29th, 2005 03:43 pmMental note. When walking more than 150 blocks in a day, all over Manhattan, remember to properly lace your shoes, and re-consider that 50lb bag of stuff on your back.
Yesterday, I popped into NYC to help
badfaggot out with his final exam. There were some technical difficulties, so we couldn't get much done. We still had several hours before dinner on Curry Row, and I had no plans, so I decided to do errands with Matt. We walked to Canal from Union Sq., then up to 34th street and the CUNY library, then weaving in and and around to a Starbucks on Park, so as to take a break and get caffeinated. I hate NYC busses, as they are possibly the *worst* mode of transport available, and often no faster than walking. So instead of taking the bus, we walked to Curry Row to catch up with The Gang. Much fun was had, and I got to meet two LJ people in person (
kitchenbeard and
callmeforge). After dinner, we had the traditional after-indian dessert of Kinder Eggs. I considered heading to Mary's Dairy, but the walk was quite a trek, and some didn't want to go. We were, however, close to Nowhere (a bar). Wednesday of course, is Runt Night. Alas,
bearbait and
densemore were the only 'runts' I noticed.
It was getting late, and I turn into a pumpkin if I stay in NYC too long, so I was going to go on home, when Matt and Jim decided that they wanted to *walk* all the way back up to GCT. The walk was much easier, as we didn't have to dodge the thousands of people normally on Park during the day. Somewhere near the terminal, the clock struck midnight, and
densemore became a bit older. Happy Birthday!
I woke up this AM with the biggest blisters on my feet, and a head that felt like it went eight rounds with Ali.
