Week-End Recap
Jan. 8th, 2007 10:41 amWow, what a week-end.
rockey1 came all the way from KC to visit me in NYC. Thursday night, we went to RUB, and had some good BBQ. I *love* their beans. I also realised there is nothing vegetarian about that place. Even the veg sides are cooked in porkfat =). I can hear my arteries clogging already.
On Friday,
poodler,
anarchy_lime,
mightyrunt
perlcub,
rogueboi, and
dragbear met us for Korean at Won Jo. Fabulous stews and grilled meat. Korean food is always best with a bunch of people. Some of us then went to see Pan's Labyrinth. SEE THIS FILM.
Saturday,
rockey1 and I went MOMA for several hours, and saw almost everything. It's been ages since I've been, so it was a real treat. Of course, with all that standing, my lower back was aching. In the evening, it was off to Dos Caminos for dinner. While they're pricey, it's a fun atmosphere, and good food. While I like their guacamole, I made better last night. It seems after I went home, he went out and did a bit of bar hopping and hit "the usual" places. I'm impressed he found them all by himself ;-)
Sunday I went in early for brunch at the Viceroy. I had their heart stopping turkey sausage in gravy and scrambled eggs. I love their muffins. Shortly thereafter I bid John adieu, and had to return home to play the good husband, and do some errands which included getting ingredients for the night's dinner. I made chipotle chicken and goat cheese quesadillas (with arugula/rocket, and onions). I made a side mango salsa to go along with some very spicy guacamole.
And now, I'm at the office, wondering if the building is going to explode due to the presence of beta-mercaptan (the chemical added to natural gas to make it have an odour)
