And So to Bed
Nov. 2nd, 2007 12:36 amGood night everyone.
Today was my first day at Intuit. The group I am working with are all so very nice, in that odd, kinda scary left-coast way. They also seem a bit fascinated by me, which I found both highly flattering and a bit off-putting. I'm just a fellow who knows and does his job well. When observing the card sorting exercise from behind the one way mirror, my boxmates were enthralled at my ability to interpret small facial ticks and gesticulations accurately (I told them the card sorting exercise is just as much about the human interactions with the cards as it is about their final sorting/grouping). Really, it's just something you pick up by observing people. I've watched people all my life, and have always found it easier than actual interaction. Of course, I am getting better at that. In time, I'll figure it out.
Went to the gym today and worked out with
notdefined. I did back, he did legs and shoulders. I am actually convinced the gravity at the SOMA Gold's is less than on the east coast. On the same, or similar equipment, I am able to do *far* more weight than I can at home. Normally, I top out at about 220 on the low rows. Today I topped out at 270, and did 4 solid reps, with good form. Then I did (front) lat pulldowns, where I did 5 reps of 240. Normally, I can't do more than 1 rep of 230 (the full stack). Back lat pulldowns I managed 230, where I usually top out at about 190, simply because it's near the end of my routine, and I don't weigh enough to keep my bum planted on the seat.
Tomorrow is more work, then I move all my crap to Tom and Morgan's to stay Friday and Saturday at their place.
If you are interested, I'm going to be at Chow on Saturday for brunch at about 11:30ish (probably waiting for a table). If you're interested, reply and let me know you're coming, so I know whom to expect.
Sunday morning, I fly back to NYC, where I'll have my work cut out for me. I need to do all the wireframes for this project by wednesday. Eeeep!!!
