Extreme Cardio
Aug. 12th, 2008 12:33 pmLast night was a gym night. I was feeling a oddly low-energy. I'm sure you've experienced it, when you feel both exhausted and bouncy. I decided it probably wasn't a good day to lift, so I decided to do cardio. Over two *hours* of cardio. First I did 30 minutes on the Arc Trainer, where I kept my stride rating over 160 (I think that's "steps per minute)" throughout the hill climb. Then, I took a 3 minute break, and hit the stationary bike where I proceeded to bike 35 miles. This took over an hour by itself. After that, with my legs feeling like jelly, I decided to row for 3km. I didn't do it all at once, I had to do 1k, then rest for a bit, then do 2k. The upper body work required for a row is insane. I'm simply not built to do repetitive action like that without building up *huge* amounts of lactic acid.
Interestingly enough, I wasn't at all winded. Sure, my muscles were dying at the end, but I maintained an even, rather relaxed breathing style throughout the workout. I don't know if I could do this again this week, but I am interested in giving it another shot.
