OK, so recently I realised I need a spring/summer/autumn suit. My prior one is no longer viable, as the moths got to it =(. It's not so bad, as I am no longer that size.
I don't wear them often, but when I do, I want to blow the doors off. I also want it to be versatile enough that I can dress it down, and not make my bosses look shabby. It's never OK to make your bosses look bad.
My prior suit was a CK affair, black, which while lovely, turned out to be a bit more fussy than I'd have liked. It tended to be "too formal" for anything but evening-wear. I'm thinking this time, a charcoal, and perhaps with a pinstripe. However, I'm having trouble looking for a good style/cut.
I'm liking what Ralph Lauren is doing with the fitted/large lapel look — sort of a modern interpretation of a pre-war (WWII) style. CK Doesn't seem to be doing anything as interesting. But who else should be on my radar? My budget is roughly $1-2k if needed (but obviously wouldn't mind spending less), as a good, proper suit will last *many* years, and the style should be more on the classic side than the trendy (so I don't look silly in 3 years). Is Cavali doing anything? I can't seem to find any new pics of the current collection. Anyone else?
I plan on purchasing/fitting this week-end, so any suggestions for research would be fantastic. Just looking for a 2pc, no need for a vest.
