Although I'm slowly learning to enjoy new types of beer, as a general rule, I don't like fruit-infused beers. I find them to be overly sweet, and more often than not, totally unbalanced. I don't like watermelon. I don't like witbeirs, as they tend to leave my tongue feeling… fuzzy… in a bad way.
I LOVE this beer. It's not the best choice for a very cold winter night, but it happened to be in the fridge. It's got a very light, crisp, clean taste, not unlike the cold night air. There is however, the slightest aftertaste of watermelon. It's not overpowering, and it doesn't get compounded as you continue to drink. It's simply a very well crafted beer.
It's a light gold in colour, fairly low in alcohol and IBUs, so it's perfect for consuming on a hot summer day. A vague acquaintance of mine once called it a good 'lawnmower beer'; ie, something you drink while mowing your lawn. While I have people to mow my lawn for me, I always have the option of having one while watching them mow my lawn ;-)
Unfortunately, the last time I was at the 21A, they didn't have any on draught. I wanted to share it with my lovely lunch companions. Instead, we were treated to some really amazing alternatives. One day, we'll do it again in the summer, and perhaps then they'll have a keg tapped.
