I've always been a fan of http://hopstop.com , a fantastic wayfinding utility. Now they are offering SMS and voice service. Text an origin and a destination, and it will send the steps back to you. Or, you can ring them up, and have it speak to you.

And it's free.

HOT!

Oh, now this is pretty cool. Do I have it right that Grand Central Station is at 42 & Lexington?

Yes, you are correct, although you could enter "Grand Central Station" and it would know.

(it understands names of landmarks, to some degree)

Looking at it now

I am trhing to find the actually address of Laguardia and for some reason the web accessing the Red Roof inn is not bringing me to the link so I will have to look a bit later. I do know that the Q33 buss to the train that I used to take into the city is still in operation. But I will do some looking around today or later tomorrow.

I think that I found it

I can take the M60 Bus ti 31st abd I-278 which is about a 5 min bus ride and there pick up the N train and with no transfers the N train will take me to 34th and Herald Square which according to the link that you gave me is about a 5 miin walk to the hotel. thanks This looks like the best way to go. A short bus ride and only one train with no transfers.
