Yeah. I have to say, I won't be getting an Apple phone, as I like TMobile. It's an *amazing* phone, and I want one, but I will pass on this one. I don't do 2 year contracts, and I like not giving SBC/ATT/SNET/MOUSE my money.

True, it's another lust-producing gadget that I can resist. I hope to have a rich friend who lets me play with it, similar to the way I got introduced to Macs in the first place. It was years before I was able to afford my own.

I am also reluctant to give SBC any more of my money. They were my ISP in Connecticut. No love lost there.

Before the announcement today the rumor was that the phone would be SIM-unlocked. I hope that as the price goes down, they'll sell it that way, once they no longer need to lower the price with a subsidy from a cell phone company.

If it's possible to unlock it, it should work on T-mo as well, although without some of the non-GSM-spec features (like visual voice mail) won't work.

It will be unlockable. The FCC pretty much demands it by now.

But you can't buy it without a (2-year?) Cingular contract, I understand.
