I knew this week would be an odd one. Probably a good one, but most assuredly an odd one. I was able to get to the train station a bit early today, and got my february monthly pass. This month, it's a lovely shade of pepto-pink. (January's being 'grape drink purple'). I was able to get the CTS, and got to sit next to a very handsome fellow who doesn't look too dissimilar from our very own [livejournal.com profile] mrdreamjeans. Luckily, I had my sunglasses on, as it would have been rude to obviously stare at him for the entire journey.

Once I get into GCT, I find that the Shuttle stop has been taken over by Bravo TV. It seems they're filming an opening event for the new show Top Designer.

(yes, my camera phone sucks)

But now, I've got some work to do. Updates from the most excellent week-end (guitar riff) coming soon.

If it was you, I don't think I would have been in the office on time ;-)

Glad you had a good weekend

Someone is designing a better top? I'm about to be obsolete!

This one uses high speed magnets to spin it, rather than a cord.

Apparently they have three separate model rooms set up throughout the terminal. The show could be fun, but only if Todd Oldham has at least half the on air class of Prof Gunn.

While I have high hopes, the 'reality' (pun fully intended) of the situation is Bravo has discovered "the magic formula" in season 3 of Project Runway, and season 2 of Top Chef. This is to say, it's no longer about the abilities of the contestants, but rather all about editing to create contrived drama and tension. The hook, in this case interior design, is incidental.

I *want* the show to be good. Alas, I doubt it will be. I think it'll be more appealing than Top Chef (as you can *see* design, but you couldn't *taste* the food in TC). Thoughts?

Well the formula's success depends in great part on the BQR (Bitchy Queen Ratio). If you ain't got nothing to edit, editing don't help.

It's a show about interior design. How high do you want the ratio to be? You'd think 1:1 would be good enough ;-)

The fact that design, or cooking, or whatever takes place in these shows is incidental, silly!

Oy. As if GCT weren't already congested enough.
