Why Is Wednesday Called "Hump Day"…

When most people get laid on the week-ends?

I went home from work early yesterday due to a rather icky case of food poisoning. Luckily, I yacked in the subway (a quintessential NYC experience, I can assure you), and felt better a few hours later. I am always amazed at the efficiency in which my body purges such things. I was also wearing my new boots (replacements for my old and busted 8-hole Docs), which I've dubbed my "angry boots", simply because they haven't yet been broken-in, and they are *very* painful to wear. I should have worn them in the house for a few days, rather than navigate the concrete jungle my first time out.

Today I am much better. It's however, quite cold. In the office, it's 8,000F, and I am already falling asleep.

Glad you are feeling better

And here I was just getting ready to send you some new shoe strings. (smile)

Take care

No no, there is no need. Actually, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. Bill's starting to get a bit miffed, which, I suppose is understandable.

Miffed about what?

You said 'yacked'. :)

I hope you feel better.

A couple of months ago I had what I'm pretty certain was a food poisoning episode, and what amazed me was the absolutely involuntary nature of the "yacking". I would feel it just starting (queasy feeling and sudden odd salivation), walk over to the bathroom, and then it was wholly outside of my control. The body just takes over.

After not too many hours it ended and then I was better, although esophogeally sore and battle-weary.

Yikes.

Isn't that a lovely image for the morning?

Indeed! I thought I'd share. Glad you could do the same ;-)

Yeah, it's odd. My body actually fights with itself, as it's such a violent act. Sometimes it can take several hours trying to trick myself into letting go. However, when it finally happens, my body feels much better.

watch as i completely ignore the content of your post!

1) because, if you work with the american sunday-is-the-first-day week and associate it with a bell curve, wednesday is at the height of the "hump"

2) because I get laid on wednesday, and the entire world revolves around me.

Nice!

Alas, Bill is in Cairo at the moment, so I get to go home to a cold bed.

cold bed? sucktacular!
or, rather, lack-of-sucktacular!

Alas, I don't think I'd classify Bill as sucktacular, but as I always say, practice makes better ;-)

I generate a lot of heat [*wink*]!

Glad you feel better! I had a case myself of food poisioning from Taco Express on 23rd and 7th Avenue. Bloody awful stuff.

Oh my! Sorry to hear that. I may add, it's good to hear from you. I was wondering where/how you've been, and suddenly you make quite a few posts in the last few days.

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That is just sooooo [livejournal.com profile] ptownnyc of you. Aside from the disgust of your car's fellow passengers, I can just hear the collective argh as the conductor announces the train was being delayed because of an ill passenger.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No no... it wasn't on the train proper, I was able to boot into a bin, on the platform. Don't take the 28th street RW uptown for awhile

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Amateur.

Besides, one never takes the 28th st R/W. It just isn't done.

I like that the seats are warm.

(for those that don't know, the HVAC unit is located under the seats, giving an effect similar to that of the heated seats/bun warmers in luxury cars)

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, heaters under plastic seats. Good thing. Think of the flourocarbons in the air. If nothing else they'll insulate you from the other passengers.

Or make you yack. In case you need it.

[identity profile] danbearnyc.livejournal.com 2007-02-01 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yackety-yack, don't talk back!

[identity profile] gotmoof.livejournal.com 2007-02-01 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you had breath mints handy after you yacked. I mean, there's nothing more distressing than yack-breath.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2007-02-01 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed! I had both a liter bottle of water and altoids in my bag (amongst other fun things). I'm ready for anything

[identity profile] gotmoof.livejournal.com 2007-02-01 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Now I want to see inside your bag and see what it contains!
