Since when did the 13th street "Center" become the LGBT Center?

Was it always this way?

Are we getting a *wee* too PC?

Sometime in the early '90s.

Stop. It's not PC to use the term PC anymore.

Nor is it PC to complain about people using the term PC.

Believe me, it's been debated and argued about. A lot. Gurls always come first 'cause they've been oppressed more and are more invisible. And they're good at arguing and making men feel guilty.

It started out as the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center, the B and T were added later. Your confusion is probably because almost everyone refers to it as the "Gay Center" or just "The Center."

Curiously, Google LGBT = 7.6 million hits, GLBT = 5.8 million.

Good summary here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT#Controversy

It's like that scene from the The Life of Brian: the People's Front of Judea arguing with the Judean Peoples Front.

And a similar joke in the South Park Wii two-parter -- in the distant future, wars are no longer caused by religions, but by different splinter groups of atheists.

Exactly what I was thinking!

And why do the humans eat off of tables when they have perfectly good tummies in which to do so!

You know perfectly darn well it's the direct progeny of the Center's earlier name. I remember GLBT was popular for a while, but then "lesbigay" became some sort of weird glom-term and ... what the hell.

Reminds me of a joke I used to hear from the less bi-positive friends around me: "I'll have a GLT and hold the B."

Your memory is much likely sharper than mine.

I'm still trying to understand why someone who identifies as "Questioning" wants to be part of such an acronym soup, and why "Bi" (along with Trans) isn't a sufficient enough umbrella for them.

What was it before? Did they add the "L" or merely change its position?

They got so tired of changing the name of their gay employees association here at Piggie, that it was renamed "Pride Network", in the hope of stopping the seemingly inevitable acronym creep.

Cos even Questioning Queer Transgendered Youth can be proud, right?

No, they are not aloud to be proud. They are however, allowed to be mocked.
