TED (Technology, Education, Design) is an amazing ongoing conference that brings the best and the brightest to speak about almost any topic. They just relaunched their site, and I find it quite interesting. Some hits, some misses. However, with TED, content is king. I can't tell you how many TEDTalks I've watched and been inspired. I found this one particularly refreshing, and disturbing. I urge you all to take 30 minutes to listen to this lecture:

Totality agree, I first learned of TED thru Julia Sweeney (http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/86).

A little family side note on TED conferences. My sister's company did Chris Anderson's 7- day millenium birthday bash in Whistler 7 years ago. It was a success far beyond anyone's expectetions, particularly Chris Anderson's. Two of the main people from the millenium program, the McCartney twins (Janet is a best friend of my sister and a good friend of mine), continue to work with Chris Anderson out of the Vancouver office as listed on the site.

I'm sorry to report that they can't comp tickets -- I've already asked. But they're still fun to talk to :-)
