I read about that this morning. As a child I never missed Ask Mr. Wizard. The show ended all too soon for me, replaced by the never ending cartoons. It made a very brief comeback with a middle aged Mr. Wizard and even then, I tried to never miss seeing it. Mr. Wizard inspired me, stoked my curiosity about everything and helped me set goals that have stayed with me all of my life. Hopefully his passing will not go unnoticed by those who learned from him.
I've only a vague recollection of Mr. Wizard, but you prompted a fuller memory of the films screened in my classes during the mid-1960s starring "Dr. Research." Frank Capra, of all people, created them, and one of my favorites in the series was ”Hemo the Magnificent. Hemo was "a muscular animated figure with a transparent body, allowing us to see the entire blood stream from the heart on down." No need for x-ray specs!
