How's *that* for a reference ;-)

I was amazed with what they did for $15. I loved the idea of the knit outfit, but clearly the execution sucked. I thought the French sweater/skirt thing with pockets was *rockin'*, but I donnow how it went with the rest of the line.

And what's up with "High End" also being "insanely cheap, and available at K-Mart"?

Discuss!!

Loved the winning ensemble! (M hated it, par for course.)

Was surprised by hippie chick - SJP was right - two very lovely pieces.

Am catching up on my project rungay blog-reading as we speak...

I think that the idea of good design for the masses will change the world as much as my field ever did. Discuss.

Saw episodes 1 (finally!) and 2 tonight. In both cases I agree with the judges in whom they sent home. Maybe not so much in their choice of winners, but that's OK.

I was actually surprised by the winner. I would have picked other things. I didn't like the jacket at all, but I think they were impressed that they pulled off something that complicated.

Hippychick/Bikerchick's final result was pretty good, but about that colour… Ick!

Are my eyes failing that much?  I would have sworn that the bargain outfit Elisa did this week was a cheaper version of the fabric she used for the pooing fabric piece she did in the previous task.

Yeah, it looked like a horrible near-teal.

Not good.

I don’t get what that color is about with this season’s designers, because so many of them have used colors from that part of the spectrum in just two episodes already.  Then again, I never understood the appeal of turquoise to begin with, either.

SJP wasn’t very well-spoken in expressiong the point of view she has for the BITTEN line.  I’ve never found her particularly articulate about anything, though.

Agreed. I kinda don't "get" her popularity. Her show (S&tS, not Square Pegs) was really unwatchable after the second season. Are women that hard pressed to find a female role model that doesn't think sex is "naughty", or do they just tune in to see her not-act?

I’ve never actually read any Candace Bushnell to have a frame of reference for how much of Carrie Bradshaw was Bushnell and how much was Parker, but I’d hate to think that shrieky Carrie was actually a toned-down version of a woman who is actually even more obnoxious.  I was always more interested in Samantha anyway (which seems to be the case with a lot of S&TC fans, because Carrie Bradshaw hardly counts as anyone’s Everywoman.  The extremes have the stronger pull most of the time.

It's been ages since I've seen a reference to Square Pegs, which made me chuckle instantly, btw.

A fantastic show, doomed to failure.
