The Creepy Guy (TCG) was at the gym yesterday. It was the first time I'd seen him in awhile. This encounter was no different than other encounters with TCG, and left me feeling rather annoyed.
Backstory
I go to the
NYSC in my town. One day, during my workout, this fellow starts having a conversation with me while I am at the water fountain. Being a friendly fellow, I make small-talk, then get back to my workout after about 30 seconds. Later in the locker room, he comes over (naked) while I am getting dressed and starts chatting me up (wanting to get coffee, etc). I give him the "I really don't wish to talk to you, I need to leave" vibe. He doesn't get the hint, but I'm done, and I leave.
This happened a few more times over the course of about a year, but one day I get back into the locker room after a particularly strenuous workout (Max-OT if you are curious. More about my workouts in another post.), and there he is again in the locker room getting dressed. As my bad luck would have it, my locker was in the same area where he was, and so he decided to start up a conversation. I couldn't just ignore him, but I didn't want to encourage dialogue either. So I got undressed, and walked to the showers (the showers are individual showers, with a private tile surround, so you can dry yourself off in your own "space"). He followed me *into* the stall area! (The area is meant for a *single* person.) I nearly decked him, but I like my gym, and I don't want to get my membership revoked –not to mention cops, etc. I shut the door to the stall, and I thought he went away. But no, he waited on the bench just outside the stall, possibly watching me. I dried off, then got dressed, and left –totally ignoring him.
Present Day
Flash forward to this incident. I hadn't seen him in quite awhile, so I thought perhaps he went away. No such luck. I go into the locker room to change into my gym kit, and there he is, in the next change area. Naked, he peeks his head around and starts talking to me. I semi-ignore him, but he takes that to mean that he should come over and chat, rather than leave me alone. He starts going on about how he just got divorced over the week-end. Divorced?!?! They guy was chatting me up all this time, and he was married?!?! Gods, I find that annoying. He then asks if I want to go to dinner. Right then, I say "I don't think that will happen. Sorry, mate". Hopefully, this will cool him down a bit.
I go to the gym to work out, not to get dates. That behaviour in this particular gym is totally inappropriate. Grrr!
