Went to Casa Mono, a wonderful, albeit cramped tapas bar run by Mario Batali ( on the corner of 17th and Irving Pl. in NYC) last night.
Fantastic meal:
- Pumpkin & Goat Cheese Croquetas
- Bacalao Croquetas with Orange Alioli
- Mussels with Cava & Chorizo
- Sweetbreads with Fennel al Mono
- Skirt Steak with Onion Marmelada
- Sea Bass with cream sauce and radish
I also had dessert:
- Mono Sundae
- Chocolate Cake
It was a brilliant execution with good friends, and a very knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff. The Bill wasn't all that much either (aside from drinks).
Now I've got to figure out how to re-create those sweetbreads. Sometimes you just need some thymus.
