SoNo Arts Fest 2005
Aug. 7th, 2005 08:17 pmThis week-end was the 29th annual SoNo Arts Festival in South Norwalk, CT. Since I have been in this part of the US, I've volunteered my services to help out my friend James Barnes, and his giant puppet group Waking Dream. Every year, it's quite a spectacle. Dozens of people help create these giant puppets, and many more show up to carry them in the great puppet parade. We marched on Washington (Street), joined by a local African drum society. Thousands of people line the streets to get a glimpse of the huge multi-coloured creations. I'll have pix up an a day or so.
This year was different. My very dear friend Zora passed away in June of this year. She was 35. Zora was instrumental in the design and organisation of the puppet parade, designing many of the puppets herself. This parade was dedicated to her.
I broke down twice during the parade, but very happy to celebrate her life with all her friends on this day. Zora is still, and will forever remain in our hearts and minds.
Friends matter. To all the LJ-ers that have met me, thank you. For those LJ-ers that I have yet to meet, I thank you as well.
With a deep and humble heart, pax.
