When most people get laid on the week-ends?

I went home from work early yesterday due to a rather icky case of food poisoning. Luckily, I yacked in the subway (a quintessential NYC experience, I can assure you), and felt better a few hours later. I am always amazed at the efficiency in which my body purges such things. I was also wearing my new boots (replacements for my old and busted 8-hole Docs), which I've dubbed my "angry boots", simply because they haven't yet been broken-in, and they are *very* painful to wear. I should have worn them in the house for a few days, rather than navigate the concrete jungle my first time out.

Today I am much better. It's however, quite cold. In the office, it's 8,000F, and I am already falling asleep.

Since when did the 13th street "Center" become the LGBT Center?

Was it always this way?

Are we getting a *wee* too PC?

So I am watching the premier of Top Design. Interestingly, the name of the show is Top Design, not Top Designer. This may imply that the design (the contestant's product) is front and centre, not the contestant themselves.

Todd Oldham is a douche. His sing-songy style of speech manages to be condescending and grating. He'd be better off as a greeter singing "Welcome to our World of Toys" (The FAO Schwarz theme song). He's no Tim Gunn. Maybe he'll get better. I doubt it.

The guy from Chicago (John). Total self-hating homosexual. He's "the drama". Expect him to outlast his actual design capabilities because he makes for good TV.

I'm intrigued by Goil (pron. like gargoyle). He's got an under and post grad in architecture.

Michael (fauxhawk boy) is too timid to last more than a few episodes. Someone should tell him to design a spine.

I find it interesting that most people are from NY, CHI, or CA, also that many of them have architecture degrees, practices or both, and as far as I can tell, few actually have *design* (interior or otherwise) degrees.

$50k for the first trial? Wow!

Update [23:35]: Notice Todd is wearing an earpiece. The question is: is he deaf, or is he receiving lines? If he's receiving lines, that's rather pathetic, as it's a taped show. That would however, explain his sing-songyness.
