My Sgt. Hatred shirt *finally* arrived!

This marks my 3rd shirt from the Astrobase T-Shirt Club (I didn't subscribe, but decided on being an ad hoc purchaser). I skipped the next two shirts, so the next one I'll receive is the Order of the Triad, probably sometime next week or so.

Went to the gym last night. It was so humid, I thought I'd die. I wound up doing both biceps and triceps, as I just wasn't able to sustain the type of workout I normally do (one muscle group per day, about an hour-90 mins). I'll make up for it over the week-end, and do them both again.

Tonight I have a special guest visitor who has to get to LGA at 7am tomorrow morning (he's a stew'), so tonight should prove to be interesting, albeit rather an early one.

So, I'm in the market for a new mobile phone. I am sticking with T-Mobile, so unless I wanna fork over insane amounts of money for an iPhone and break the contract, then be left with an iPhone that doesn't work with T-Mobile's US 3G network, and also risk bricking the phone during a software update, I'm going with other options.

I'm looking at unlocked phones, as the TMo phones are shite. I'm looking at the Nokia N78, and the older, but some-say-better N82. To be honest, I don't quite understand the major difference between the two, other than the N82 having a 5MP camera, and the N78 only having a 3MP camera. The N78 seems to have a more modern look to it (and, IMO, sexier). I do worry about SymbianOS. I've never used an S60 phone, so I don't know what to expect wrt speed, and UI configuration. All the phones I've had to date are "dumb", and operate rather quickly, with the exception of my current Razr, which always seems to be half a step behind me. It also has a nasty and annoying tendency for gratuitous animation, when it could be giving me back control of the UI. I was also intrigued by the new Motorola Rokr E8, but I'd want to play with it before buying it. It's also a *much* less capable phone, for not a lot less.

I've taken a look at some reviews of both N-series, and it seems the OS is a bit wonky. Now that SymbianOS is Open Source, do you think they'll fix the flaws in the UI anytime soon? For example, it seems silly to me that the "scroll ring" works in *some* of the screens, but not *all* the screens, and for that you have to use the scroll ring like a joystick and press to go r,l,u,d.

FJ? CPratt? Anyone else care to chime in?
