Just to close yesterday's thread about Bill's car…
I didn't bother trying again to get the wheels off the car. None of the tyres seemed to be low enough that the car couldn't be driven for a short distance, so we opted for Plan B. That entailed simply driving down to the corner filling station and using their air pump. Plan B *would* have worked, except there was a large "Out of Order" sign attached to the pump. At this point, it was too late to go to Plan C, which involved going much farther away to another filling station which has a known-good pump (free, and with an accurate digital readout), as I needed to get up to Westport to get my hair cut. Bill decided that he'd keep the car running in the driveway, and occasionally drive it around West Lyon Farm in hopes the battery would hold a charge long enough to last the night.
Cut to this morning, wherein we execute Plan C. The car hesitated, but eventually turned over without a jump from my car, and we proceeded to drive to the other filling station via the Post Road (and not i95). The readout said all four tyres were fairly low, but not catastrophic. I set the machine to 34PSI (slightly above the recommended 32, but well below the max PSI of 44), filled all four, then drove home.
To be blunt, I am not sure how much longer Bill should be driving. He often drives so slowly as to be a hazard, and he fails to apply his turn indicators properly, so the intended turn is ambiguous. This makes me rather nervous, as I know it's not going to get better.
