Well, at least Nina's back.

So this is the "final", as they show 4 people in Bryant Park. This sucked.

How much did you think it sucked?

Discuss!!

100%

And I am *very* surprised The Suede made it through, although considering what the others made... ICK!

Finals? Aren't there six designers left after tonight? When is Fashion Week?

Fashion Week is NOW, actually.

That said, it seems I mis-counted. I thought there were 4 left, but there are 6 according to Vern.

The finale is being filmed tomorrow and stars J-Lo.

Dare to dream, contestants!

We still have 6 designers left ... so I am not following you. Also, I thought they only showed 3 designers at Bryant Park.

I missed the beginning of the show, so I don't know what started off between Terri and Keith, but I figured she might be eliminated over the lack of ownership and collaboration. Still I was surprised how that worked out, she changed her design because Christian did not like the mane-jacket but seems like she would not use Keith for anything ... even if she was worred about whether he could pull off stuff entirely by himself, she probably could have had him do some simple stuff under her supervision to get some work off her hands ... and certainly ask his opinion (is it ironic that both he and Michael Kors thought the look was "cheap"?)

Overall I think most of them fell far short of Avant Garde ... Kenly probably came the closest, but her design did not scream "Aquarius" to me.

I agreed with the winner. Jerell's look was very nice and very well constructed.

Ah, I mis-counted. They show 4 at BP, and until last season, the 4th was the "secret red herring". They decided not to make it secret anymore as everyone knew about it last season.

Last season, Sweet P, Chris March, Rami, Jillian and Christian all showed at Fashion Week because of the “tie,” though only Christian, Rami, and Jillian were showing “in competition.”  In season three Jeffery, Bad Mommy Laura, Michael/Mychael, and Uli showed and all four were in competition. The previous two seasons the dummy collections were the fourth designer’s; the problem was that they decided to have Austin Scarlett show a dummy collection at the last minute in season one, so he didn’t have the same budgetary resources or time as the other three designers and at the runway show that was painfully obvious in the collection he presented, so the next season Kara Janx was given the same amount of time and money as Santino, Daniel, and Chloe to prepare her work so that it would be less apparent that she’d already been cut.

As far as how they handle this year, we’ll find out on Friday, I guess.

I feel that Kenley (post DvF boost) is not going to be in competition much longer, and possibly the same for Suede.

Kenley is being very contrary and disrespectful to the judges, but does not show the consistent flair of some of others. Sude does not "wow" them enough and it sounds like his talking in the third person eccentricity is getting to the judges (or at least to Michael Kors).

The weekly competition is really about Joe and Jerrell at this point, because Korto and Leanne are going to Bryant Park unless one of them does something entirely out of character.

Bryant Park, of course, will be about Korto and Leanne ... though I think that given a lot more time Joe and Jerrell should be able to do really quality work. So it should be interesting.

Now about the judges:

Nina Garcia (Randy) - She has cred and is generally not mean. Except for her mysterious disappearances, She's the same person we remember.
Michael Kors (Simon) - Wow, he went for the jugular this week. Seems like something is going on and he is taking it out on the contestants.
Heidi Klum (Anti-Paula) - Her credibility has not recovered from being slapped by DvF. Maybe Michael is a bit meaner because she has lost a bit of her sting.

Overall the show feels a little forced. Not sure if it is because it seems like they are just going through the motions or if it is the lack of wow-factor in many of the designs. And eliminating two people in one challenge ... la-zeee! ;-)

I agree. It's not "who will do well" between J&J, but rather "who will fuck up the least". They both walk a thin line.

And have you noticed that they're trying to bring back former cast members of PR into other shows?! This is Super Shark Jumping II: Hyper Jumping Edition.

Not to mention into the current season ... The last challenge featured the eliminated designers AND designers from previous seasons. It's a wonder Christian gets time to design ... he has been on Projetct Runway 5, Make me a Supermodel, and Top Chef Chicago! Chris March and Laura (season 3) been making the rounds too.

If they are going to cross pollinate ... why not do something like designing a skimpy bathing suit for Top Chef Judge Tom Colicchio ... now that might give me a culinary boner ;-)

Terri is one angry bitch.

I was glad she was booted off, even if I thought Suede was more deserving to be gone.

I thought the top 4 were good, but only Leann and Korto have wowed me this season. It is definitely down to those two.

Kenley's "setting Heidi straight" spells doom for here these next two eliminations.

Had I been a judge, I’d have voted off Kenley, Terri, Suede, and Shit-for-Brains Blayne to save myself the trouble of three more “eliminations.”

Somehow Keith turned out to be a great deal more obnoxious and annoying than previous exposure would have us believe.  Then again, so is Kenley.

And too many of those dresses looked like ass (in the worst possible way).  Hopefully having had two months to work on their collections means there will actually be something worth looking at come this Friday morning.  I’m not holding my breath, though, and from the looks of things, Lifetime is determined to kill what little respectability the show has left in season 6.

*sigh*

I applauded when Terri got the boot - her attitude to Keith was utterly obnoxious. Keith was a bit of a whiner, definitely, but I don't think he deserved the cold-shoulder treatment.

I liked Kenley to begin with, but she is becoming pretty arrogant and full of herself.

None of tonight's efforts really wowed me - which is pretty much par for the course with this season's set of designers. I've been much more hooked on PR Oz, whose finale will be on YouTube by Monday evening - woohoo!

(In case [livejournal.com profile] annoyinghandle sees this, I think Juli will win... :-) )

Much as I'd like 'our girl' to win, I'm afraid that Leigh's collection looked a wee bit wacky to me. Patrova's was too clashy and a bit of a mish-mash. By default, that leaves girly Juli to sweep up.

Oh, and I just had another horrible thought:

All the lines showing this Fashion Week are Spring/Summer 2009.  These bitches are going to have to make at least one swimwear look.

Oh, the agony.  I shudder to think.

I was shocked that Terri was kicked off. Yeah, her attitude was crap, but her dress was not. I would have punted Suede instead.

I think the judges devalue arrogant attitude over boring, at least this week. I look for Kenley to be gone next with her disregard for Tim's advice and her "setting Heidi straight" attitudes.

I have seen more interesting Halloween outfits

I thought it was the weakest episode of the year, by far - and I'd place a lot of blame on PR itself. The Planetarium looks beautiful (need to go back, haven't seen the renovations since I left NYC in '88), but it's a dark space that didn't make it easy to judge anyone's work, for better or worse. Conceptually, I found the zodiac idea week.

I need to go back & get better looks at the designs again. My first instinct was that any of the four top ones were fine with me- overall, Jerrell's work doesn't do much for me, but this was the first time I saw him do something that didn't look like everything else he'd done before. Kudos to him for that.

I could have seen Kenley tossed over Terri - maybe Terri's looked worse in person, but Kenley's struck me as even more of a costume than Terri's. Terri's hostility was over-the-top, but so was Keith's whining; my ability to find him hot is gone for good.

Clearly, we saw the final four today, even if we have Suede & Kenley to take care of first.

Yeah - barring a big surprise, I think the top four are fairly clear. Kenley is becoming very wilful and that will not do her any favors with the judges; and Suede, well - he was very lucky indeed that it wasn't a triple elimination last night.

I visited the NY Planetarium a couple of years ago - it was lots o' fun. I'd love to do a NYC trip one of these days. I've been there twice, and had a great time each time. So much to do.

Okay, people......
Stop saying "Keith is amazing".....or "Keith shouldn't have been voted off" simply because ya'll think he's hot. He threw Terri under the bus by taking a nap and being a self-absorbed, drama-causing douche. Keith was the one who walked off, and yet Terri was the one who was reprimanded for not being able to work with other people. Keith should've taken her points of view for what they were (whether they were good or not) and just let her have done what she wanted since it was her ass on the line-not his.

On a related topic, I don't think Jerell should've won. His dress was dated (in a bad way), predictable and boring.

/2 cents

Were we watching the same show? Terri SHUNNED Keith! I don't like Keith's personality, nor his designs, but I wouldn't have taken Terri's shit either. He seemed willing to help at first, but Terri said she would rather have "let him pick the pins up off the floor" than try to do anything remotely helpful.

Maybe she should have made a pant suit.

It was Terri's butt that was on the line, not Keith's. They didn't get along with each other-That's a given. I think it's better to shun/ignore someone than to get in a loud arguement that'd interrupt the rest of the contestants. Keith couldn't accept that, became a whiny beeotch about it and left to go take a nap. Good sportsmanship under any circumstance is apparently a foreign concept to him. Since he was already voted off he could've just helped out with her concept, but since she didn't care for his ideas he got all huffy about it.

Neither of them are perfect, but given the situation I tend to think Keith was the bigger butt in this circumstance.

This was a tricky challenge: How do you keep someone who does not necessarily have your best interests at heart motivated?

Don't ask Terri. Because even if her butt is on the line (which it was), she won't change her tack.

History is repeating itself. About a week ago I responded to a comment by the_octothorpe about PR in someone else's journal, and now I am responding to someone else's comment in HIS journal.... go figure!

Why is it so hard for people to admit that KEITH was the problem, not Terri? For the love of Tim Gunn, he not only walked off, he took a NAP! "I'm fragile." Isn't that what he said? Ridiculous!

That aside, I saw that you listed Mamiyas and martinis as interest and I had to say hello!

who would havethought at the beginning that Keith would be such a whinny pain in the arse. but still Terri inability to work with other assisants will not help her in the fashion world, and it did look like something designed for the lion king. does anyone else find it curious that they are using other previous PR desingers on this and one other shows, ie next weeks "top design"? is it one last hurah before it's death?
