Er, rather, my new LJ theme.

It's technically the same S2 theme I've been using for years, but I hacked that one to hell, and this one is once again hacked based on the prior one. This was originally the "Bloggish "Becket"" theme. Now, it's Helvetica-tastic!

Do people find the body text to be contrasty enough? Is the text large enough? I'm not super interested in the sidebar, as it's really only important to me.

There are still a few wonky things going on, but it's in a place where I feel I can leave it without totally driving me insane.

Let me know what you think.

Geeknote: All of the visual changes are done in CSS. The original theme hasn't been modified. I've used the "display" attribute set to "none" for containers I didn't want to see. Alas, that doesn't make the HTML any smaller.

Edit: Oh, [livejournal.com profile] notdefined asked me if he could use it. I should make it available to everyone, although please note, you must be using the "Bloggish Becket" theme for it to work, and I can't offer tech support should you break something.

I like it!

There are two things that appear a bit wonky to me: the LiveJournal Navigation Strip (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml) (some of the text is white on white) and the "Leave a comment" box (all the lines seem to be missing.)

I can send screen-shots if you'd like.

Ah! The "LJ Nav Strip" isn't in my normal viewing of a page, so I don't see that. Could you show me a screenshot?

Yes, the line around many of the button elements are gone. Hmm… It could be the global border declaration. I'll have to re-enable it for specific elements.

That said, I'm actually kinda digging the "no lines" thing. Where I do see it breaking down is with comments. It's not all that clear where the top or bottom are located.

I've fixed the border issue!

The entry with the source code has been updated.

Yup! The reply is fixed. Do you want a screen-shot of the Nav Strip? Let me know what e-mail to send to.

Good show, that's exactly what I see :-)

Oh, that's *very* unfortunate ;)

Luckily, I know what's wrong, and I can fix it. I have a global "white background" declaration somewhere, and I'll re-enable the strip to use the default one. –ooh, I could even alter it to my liking ;)

I think I've fixed it.

Is the strip still illegible?

Oh, send it to my gmail (octothorpe)

Cheers!

I may not get to it for awhile, however, as it'll be hard to debug something I can't see (although I suppose I could just turn it on ;) )

Certainly not urgent. I usually read LJ from my Friends Page :-)

I think I fixed the LJ Navstrip thing.

Let me know if it's still hosed.

It's interesting - I haven't found a need for themes in my livejournal universe...I guess that is unless people you know go directly to your site and don't live in LJ the way we do. When you click to read your entire friends list, it conforms everyone's page to the same anyway... doesn't it?

It does for me!

I did look at the page under [livejournal.com profile] theoctothorpe's theme and I like it, but I read my friends page in a standard theme that does away with all the work that went into making the theme look spiffy. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] theoctothorpe!

Yes, I read my Flist page in my theme, but when I go to someone's actual entry, it's in their theme.

Having the individual entry be in the blog owner's theme allows me to remember who they are, where I am, etc. It's a "branding" thing, and everyone should have their own brand.

Do we call this [livejournal.com profile] theoctothorpe's Theme from now on?

I do like it, it's clean and crisp and simple.

As I replied below, I read my flist page in my theme, but I keep the owner's theme when I go to reply to their entry. This way I retain their own "branding", and I know where I am by their theme.

Looks nice and clean, and the type is JUST large enough for these old peepers to make out.
Minor quibble--having to scroll back to the end of your post to post a comment.
