Ursus Maximus Update

The feature-set has been frozen. (no, I am not telling you what it is. If we drop things, you'll only feel disappointed).
The next step is to divide the giant feature-set of the application into deliverable parts. "Release early. Release often."
We also have to figure out how the modules will behave (look/feel/act). This will take awhile.
Also, I am calling people who have Ruby/Rails experience. While we haven't settled on a platform (that comes *after* deciding how the modules will behave), I am looking directly at RoR, as I like the strict MVC and rapid development structure.

Date: 2005-12-14 02:43 pm (UTC)People are flipping out over it because like Cocoa, the framework does all the hard work for you, all you need to do is supply the parts of your application that are unique. So yes, it is as good as everyone says. Of course, it's not going to write your app for you. That'll be in Rails 2.0 ;-)

Date: 2005-12-14 03:35 pm (UTC)My background is programming, but I stopped my classes right as we were getting into object orientated programing. I understand the concepts of thinking in "everything is an object" mindsets, but don't have much practice doing it sadly.
btw, I love that you're coming up with an alternative to bear411. I just removed my profile from there the other day after they started censoring peoples messages. That's a bit creepy I think, not to mention fascist.

Date: 2005-12-14 02:24 pm (UTC)On Bear411 if you add someone to a friends list, it always shows up there even if that user deletes their profile. The only way to find out if it's active or not is to click on it.
