Not quite as intricately made, if you can believe that. Amerikilt stitches the pleats only on the outside folds, so the inside folds have to be creased. That may be good or bad, but it does make a difference. I do like the attached sporran, since it provides a pocket without adding those clunky things on the sides... and, besides, it looks cool! That said, I don't have one, though my friend Den (6'2") does.
Is that Amerikilt? I know they have a sporran that attaches with chains. Their pleats are stitched differently from Utilikilts -- I know this because my friend Den has one.
For the record, I don't get the kilt thing. Not that it turns me off, per se, but I don't get the attraction. Unless it's like uniforms, where I often like the kind of man who would be wearing a fireman's or policeman's uniforms (for work, not to the bar, you pervs!).
I dunno if I have "good calves" but I enjoy wearing my UtiliKilt. Unfortunately I'm going to have to miss Kilt Day because work today is likely to entail some activities that would make the kilt unwise....

And *no*, we have *not* "had" him. ;-)

Date: 2005-12-30 12:54 pm (UTC)I may have to break down and get myself a kilt. Since I don't fit the one I got as a youth (being about 50 lbs heavier than I was back then).
Thanks for the info for the day. I am always looking for holidays to mess with America's mental mind sets (evil grin)
