A New Car!

Well, I just dropped the dime on a new 2006 Acura TSX.

6spd Manual Tansmission w/ Navi

Because these cars don't actually exist in New England, they're ordering it for me. I should take possession of the car in 2-6 weeks.

I'll drive it bone-stock for 5k miles. That should shake out any potential problems. I've never heard of an Acura having a lemon problem, but there is always a first time.

Oddly enough, I think my first modification will be a proper rear light cluster with *amber* turn indicators courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] danthered.

Then I get new wheels. I can't even think of riding on 17" rims with a 50% sidewall.
Shortly thereafter I nuke the drive-by-wire system, and send in the brain to Hondata for adjustment.

Yay!!

So, when do I get a ride?

Congrats on the new toy!

Do you mean ride or ride? **pagersmirk**

Oh, hush you! The Thorpemeister is a snogger, not a shagger! LOL

Congrats Chris! It appears that the dream is about to become a reality, woohoo!

Funny thing. I never actually went into a showroom. I just called a few people up, picked the one with the best price, and put down a deposit all over the phone.

[identity profile] ricksf.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I did something similar with my leased G35. Test drove the vehicle, then did every else over the phone with the local lease company (they did a perfect job in making the deal happen).

Oh, FYI, just ordered a set of new tires for the G through Tire Rack. They've been great this time and in the past. Highly recommended.

oh, I am *all* about Tirerack.com

I've given them huge amounts of business, and they've never done me wrong!

The proper amber turn signals vanishing from some Honda models has been irking me as well.

Yeah... The way the do it on the Euro Accord/TSX is rather interesting. The lens is a pink-ish shade, not too far off from the rest of the cluster (red), but the bulb is housed in a green glass shield. This colour combination makes the light yellow! And to think, I actually learnt something from art class!

"Bone-stock"?

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I said "bone" ;-)

Are you up for dinner tonight by chance? I am going to the gym in chelsea, then I'll be pretty hungry afterwards.

[identity profile] badfaggot.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure thing -- there's a new place in your nabe you might want to try. A quelle heure?

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd probably be out by 8pm

[identity profile] thornyc.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Don't forget these for the handlebars!

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I could totally stick those on to my side mirrors!

Rad!

[identity profile] notdefined.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations. Still the same color etc.? I s'pose it will have more throat when you are done. Mind the noise police.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
hehehehe.. you said "more throat" ;-)

Yes, it's the carbon grey. My first non-black car! w00t!

[identity profile] notdefined.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
So I did, but I assume you know what I really meant by that. :)

[identity profile] joebehrsandiego.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations ... looking forward to all the details. ;-)

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
well, I gave the basic rundown in a comment above to [livejournal.com profile] ricksf. It was pretty quick and painless.

[identity profile] london-bill.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You sound sooooo Butch when you talk like that.

Drool!!

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen what I did to my current Accord??

Ironically, the only thing I didn't do myself was change the oil. Putting the motor in was fun.

[identity profile] egbubba.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Since you live in a snowy region, is this a car you will have to garage over the winter? That concept was foreign to me when I moved from LA to Ann Arbor, MI for a few years. Seeing the way salt tore through those cars, however, it was easy to see why one wouldn't dive the "good car" all year.

[identity profile] theoctothorpe.livejournal.com 2006-06-14 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
oh, it's on!

...once I kill the DBW ;-)
