Aaaaw yeah!

I'd decided to check out the collections when they actually happened, via the AP newswire, so I kinda knew what to expect. What wasn't obvious was how these looks worked when being strutted down the runway. It became a very different game. So exciting!

I don't want to spoil anything here, but WOW!! Not what I expected.

I need to get a video of Chris March's collection going down the runway (both he and Sweet P also showed at Bryant Park, as red herrings).

So what did you all think?

Discuss!!

I was a little surprised at the outcome; Christian's collection was pretty fabulous but so black-heavy and jacket-heavy at the outset, whereas Jillian and Rami both surprised me with some of the interesting stuff they pulled off. It made me feel that they would have more justification NOT giving it to Christian than I'd have thought.

I was on the phone with [livejournal.com profile] annoyinghandle at the same time catching him up on what was happening .... did they *criticize* Rami's jewel tones? I liked those. And the basket-weavey stuff he did was pretty killer. I also just plain liked Jillian's collection.

But I"m not disappointed at all. Rami and Jillian will continue on to success, as I think with Chris March and several of the others.

The only other thing I'll say is: I would HATE to be 21, that talented, that full of overconfidence, AND win PR. But that's being 44 and knowing what happens if you get too much too young. Fingers crossed for Christian that winning will be a good thing for him.

Remi's colour choices were *awful*. The 80s called, and they want their fuchsia and aqua back.

Jillian's was very prêt-à-porter. Very commercial, but not Fashion Week enough for the judges. I think she'll be able to do well on her own.

Christian's right... he's smart enough to realise he needs a break. Not only did he win, but he also won the viewer's choice, so he's got 110k + a re-badged Opel econobox.

I want to see what he hits us with next year. It's gonna be fierce.

Yeah, he's going to be one to watch, for sure.

As for Posh ... wow, she is aging SO badly ....

Yeah... not a good scene. While I really want to see the show in HD, I am concerned about seeing the *people* in HD ;-)

Here's what "fierce" gets you ...

A leased VW SUV, and a costune-designer gig for a show in Vegas.

Oh, those obnoxious pants!  I think Rami is secretly color-blind.

I don’t really get Michael going so nuts over Jillian’s knit pieces.  Were he and Nina figuring they were just going to get more of the same even though the five designers had hella more time and resources to come up with twelve looks?

I haven’t been following Sew Not Over closely, but I don’t think it will be too surprising if Christian ends up with $120k before this is all over.

Sometimes I feel like Rami does not think about what the judges want. I mean, didn't he use fuchsia in the glamazon wrestler challenge and Michael Kors specifically said he hated the colour? Why was it so prevalent in his collection?

Still he did a great job, I was pleased with most of the looks if not the colours. Though to be fair I think the only one who aced colours was Jillian. Christian was very neutral or black.

Still I think they all did great work.

I am kind of glad that Christian won. He was the most consistent of them.

hey - careful mister. Opel ain't that bad, compared to the usual US offerings... What do you want to do, bring Vauxhall back from the dead? Unbelievable, these Brits :)

Yeah, but prior years had the Sky Roadster. No, not the best car out there, but far more worthy of the "fierce" moniker than this pedestrian grocery getter. Talk about boring Nina!
