Frelling cold.

I wanted to take an early train this morning, as I have an early client meeting. As it turns out, while I took an earlier train, it arrived 7 minutes *after* my normal train was to arrive. Of course, I had to stand the entire way, packed like a lemming into a shiny metal box.

Good times.

For six years I commuted on SEPTA commuter rail from the suburbs to downtown Philadelphia. Luckily most rush hour* trains made one stop after my usual station and went express the rest of the way. What I miss most is the 45 minutes or so of uninterrupted reading time each way.

I understand feeling that it's "your" train; I was quite annoyed when SEPTA rearranged the morning schedule for no apparent reason.

*Why is it called rush hour when the time period is always longer than one hour? Wishful thinking?

Yes. I couldn't bear it if I had to drive. I'd much rather nap/listen to podcasts (this morning was Sound Opinions' Christmas episode. I highly suggest them if you want to know more about good current music of various popular genres http://soundopinions.org ), or read. I don't have an EVDO/HSDPA card for my laptop, so I will often load up a bunch of pages prior to leaving, then read them on the train.

I believe you're a Project Runway fan too, correct? I used to love to listen to Tim Gunn's painfully frank podcasts the day after each episode aired. I really, really miss those since they were discontinued.

BTW, the new season of Project Runway Canada, hosted by the fierce Iman, starts up at the end of January. Look for the episodes on YouTube.

Since much of my day was spent clicking away at a computer and speaking on the phone, there was something very relaxing about simply sitting quietly with a book for a while. I guess I'm old school, but there is just some intangible quality about reading a book that I love.

Oh, I love Tim's podcasts. I think he only did it for Season 2 and 3. I still have them on my machine at home (lots of storage means never having to delete stuff). I too, enjoyed his frankness that he was unable to give while on-air. I wonder why he stopped. Perhaps his (then) new position at Liz Claiborne, and his new show took all his time.

Oh and I forgot to mention how fierce you look in your leather jacket and shades.
