Oops. They'll probably let the air out of the tires.

The Mass Ave bridge over Memorial Drive used to be a common scene of this and worse versions - and especially interesting since trucks aren't allowed on Memorial Drive.

Many years ago, I had just crossed the Fiedler Footbridge when a truck struck it (trucks are not permitted on Storrow Drive, the roadway below the bridge.) The bridge made some truly nauseating noises and ruined the top of the truck. That must have been one expensive lesson for the driver!

Our highway system is kind of odd. For instance on Hwy 101, the overpass heights are marked right on the overpass itself. There is no warning sign of the height, 200-500 ft in advance. I'd be a bit late, if a driver of a too tall truck, traveling 60 or 70 mph, saw this marking, 50 feet in advance. Kaboom!

Yes, Boston is famous for this kind of thing. But you were here for a while, so you know this already.

On WBCN, Charles LaQuidera used to have the "Big Bucks for Stuck Trucks" contest every September. Contestants had to predict where the first student would get a UHaul truck stuck. Extra points and money if you could also predict what school they were trying to get to.

Indeed… although there doesn't seem to be too much damage to the vehicle. There doesn't seem to be any peeling back of the top.
