It was a beautiful day. Thank you all for coming (including those who couldn't make it physically, but were none-the-less present), and sharing memories of Dan.

I'm reprinting this from an email I got from Dan's friends Rick and Roddy:

Dan's family asked me to distribute this information, please feel free to post it on your blogs/journals/etc to get the word out. If anyone needs a ride on Friday or Saturday please let me know and i'll try to co-ordinate and if you have a car please let me know if your able to provide a ride for someone. If you forward this email to anyone please CC me so I can add their address to my mailings.

If anyone has pictures of Dan either bring them with you or send me the files and I'll print and bring them to the services. Dan's apartment was Sealed by the NYPD and cannot be accessed until the courts open on Monday the 4th.

Lastly, if anyone has any ideas where we could gather after the services on Saturday either near the Cemetery or in the city please email me. Since Dan's apartment is unavailable the family is unsure what to do, but they would like the opportunity to get to know some of his friends

p.s. I know a number of people are out of town and cannot make the services. Roddy and I have been discussing having a memorial sometime later this month in the city as an informal get together (I'm thinking Jackson Diner, if anyone doesn't know that was Dan's favorite Indian place). Also If anyone has ideas on what should be done with Dan's club colors send me an email as I was never a member of HF.


Details:

I'm sure that you know this by now, but just in case, the viewings will take place Friday (1/1/10) 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at Malverne Funeral Home (www.malvernefuneralhome.com).

A brief service will be held Saturday (1/2/10) at 10am and we will then caravan to Greenfield Cemetery. Please feel free to pass along this information to friends. All are welcome.

First, I want to thank everyone who has commented on my prior posts, and/or have contributed their own posts. It's wonderful to see this outpouring of love and support.

I had a few requests to post pictures I had of Dan, so here they are. Please add your own, either via comments or in your own LJ.

Note: About 8am this morning, I became violently ill, most likely due to a salad I had for dinner the night prior. I couldn't hold anything — not even water — down for more than an hour. As of right now, I've been able to keep about 2oz of gatorade and 2oz of water down. I'm still insanely weak, but I think it's over. I apologise for not getting back to everyone, but I was almost totally immobilised.

Dan Update

For those that don't yet know, Dan broke is kneecap a few days ago, and the cause of death seems to be a pulmonary embolism.

I wish to give thanks for everyone who has replied, and everyone who has posted in honour of Dan's passing.

He was a sentinel, and he will be missed.

It is with great sadness that I report to you news via a mutual friend (cottonrope) that danbearnyc has just passed away. I don't have any other information at this time.

Oddly, Dan, or someone calling from his number rang me up this evening. I answered, but no one seemed to be on the other end of the line, and the call ended.

I am in shock.

He was a wonderful man, and I will miss him deeply.
