FYFF: Just Before Bed Edition

While it's not the most flattering pic in the universe, I wanted to note, I am down to about 198lbs, and I am noticing less subcutaneous fat around my middle. Progress. Slow progress.

As far as lifting weight, I'm prettymuch back to numbers I find respectable for me (over 1000lbs on leg press, over 250 on the incline bench, 235 on the triceps pushdowns, etc). It's been awhile since I've been at that level, and it feels good to be back. In August I'll change cycles, and start eating more, with a goal of breaking some personal bests. I still want some more weeks of getting rid of the middle. At the moment, I am around 15%, although I'd love to see 12-13%, even if it's temporary. The three slices of pizza I had today didn't help.

Hey, I'm trying to work here. (OK I'm really just sitting around waiting for something to happen. such is the nature of broadcasting.)

So at 198 lbs, I'm guessing you're a little over 6 ft.?

Chris - The visuals are ... well, hard to stop visualizing.

I want you to go to the place where you feel the best, of course. A personal request: Don't lose *all* the padding. Snuggling with marble is ... frustrating. :>)

Not to worry, it isn't my intention to lose all my bodyfat. While less than 10% may be possible for people, it's not particularly healthy. You need *some* energy stores.

you aren't there already? I don't see a lot of fat on you.
Heck, you're making me self-conscious, and I'm underweight for being 2 inches shorter than you. (stupid ab fat)
Back in college, most of my bodyfat was in my thighs, and they still have the most, I bet, but I'm staving off the beginnings of a paunch, but I really hate cardio, and building ab msucle just makes it more obvious.

Growing up, I was always the super skinny kid. When I entered uni I was about 6'2" or so, but 145.

Fast forward many years, and while I grew a bit, the other thing that happend is my metabolic rate crashed through the floor. I noticed I was gaining a bit of weight, but in the wrong places, and decided to do something about it. That was a wee over 10 years ago.

Rock it!

Those are great numbers... I've never legpressed 1000lbs (as yet I have not been at a gym with a machine that could get there), and you're looking great!

My *actual* record is 1240, but that's when I had the "accident", so I am slowly working back toward that goal. It took 2 years of admittedly less-than-full dedication.

It's that bit on the sides. It's really the only place I store bodyfat of any significance, so it's *really* tough to modify without surgery.

ah.

I understand. IMO it is pleasing to the eye, but it's not my body.
And fat can easily go from pleasing to plump without maintenance while we're not looking, so I get it.

Pardon me, but in what way, exactly, is this not flattering?

Actually, it isn't THAT flattering. You should see him in the flesh, then you would understand. :) (Yes Christopher, that was intended to be a compliment. :) )

Not much!

Which is why I look like this, and not hyper-defined. mostly, I just lift heavy things. Very rarely I'll hop on the spin bike for an hour or so. I'll do that when I feel I can't lift anymore, and the lifting portion of the workout wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

Thanks!

Yes, I'm not that big, but I am quite strong. I think it's due to the type of workouts I usually do. Lots of sets, very low reps, but VERY high weights. It's similar to, but a bit different from the MaxOT workout I've mentioned in the past (you can google the PDF). I'm also tall, which makes it more difficult to *appear* strong (short guys can always look bigger with the same amount of effort). I don't mind not being big. I just want to adjust my percentages, and be at least half in the shape as some folk I know in their 50s and 60s!
